Shaneo707 Posted June 19, 2013 Report Share Posted June 19, 2013 Live gold fish by any chance? Goldfish are bad. Try some live glass shrimp to entice and or cheap damsels. And if he starts eating again you should ween him onto frozen foods like prawn, squid, fish etc. Worst case, like mine he just stopped eating no visible signs of distress , injury or disease. Couldn't even get him to eat live, lasted 5 weeks without touching a thing. Researched and asked about but all I found was on rare occasions they just starve themselves. Shaneo707 Posted June 19, 2013 Report Share Posted June 19, 2013 There are salt and fresh water glass shrimp, you can catch salt ones in rock pools or around rocks close to shore. Shouldn't feed lion's fresh water fish as they will not get the right nutrients/ proteins and will eventually die. Suggest doing a little research on feeding lions. Try to get a feeding prong and convert over to feeding frozen krill. much better and easier long term although the total win is getting them onto spectrum pellets. Clint87 Posted June 20, 2013 Report Share Posted June 20, 2013 I agree with Donny I used to use feeding tongs with mine started by putting live shrimp/fish up to the lion with the tongs so they were still wriggling then dead shrimps/fish then frozen krill. What sort of lion is it? My dwarfs used to go a lot longer between feeds then my volitan. The dwarfs were also a lot harder to get onto frozen food. We used to feed our lionfish, barracods, eels etc on only freshwater live food(fish and shrimps) as it reduces risk of disease and parasites, for this reason I would not feed them marine/saltwater livies. Frozen crayfish were great too. We also kept alot of wild swordtails/platys to feed them that were fed high nutrient food. Had me arm charged by them before......... which is still not as scary as when you spook them and they pinball around the tank lol Still.......... an eel is usually a different story.
