I'd go 4mm glass with a tank that small but if you're worried bout it taking a knock go 6mm glass & it'll be strong as. Get a couple lengths of aluminium 90degree edging for the corners or just use plastic (love the look of aluminium corners but that's just me). Edging isn't necessary but it provides a bit of protection for the brittle edges of the glass. Since the tank is small & therefore glass will be light you could use sticky tape or lean it against large hardcover books to hold your glass @ 90degrees in a box shape.
