How to care for archer fish?

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

I would like to get some archer fishes for my outdoor planted unheated tank, will need to know what is the best care for them? Tank mate?

Would breeding them possible?

Tank: 6x2x70cm

Filter: Eheim 2217

Sump: starting to do as the holes are drilled, I may move my shrimp and fish to my 4ft sump or 200lt drum acting as sump.

Current fish: 100s glass shrimps, 50s RCS, 3 crimson rainsbowfish, random feeders, 3 small marble BNs.

Plants: fully planted with many types ranging from moss, wisteria, to small/big needle leaf javafern...

Gravel: 2Tones'DIY CO2 sandbased

Few big driftwood

Cheers,

archer fish wont breed in tanks that i know of ausyfish breeds them in freshwater using hormone injection.they wont survive winter in brisbane i put 45 archers in a swimming pool and they died during the winter cold snap.feed only high quality and high protein foods as well as insects also get no less then 4 if you plan on getting more then 1 since they like to pick on there own kind

So my plan to get a IBC as a sump trying to keep the temp due to a large amount of water will not work..

How come one of my friends got a monster setup with two tier 8x4x2 no heater setup work with flowerhorn for 5 years already? Maybe, it is under a patio?

not sure why ur friends setup works with the flower horn but iv been keeping aust natives 4 more than 15years and all my natives from the more tropical areas have heaters in there tanks u could get a single small archer 4 $15-25 and c how it handles it i still regret the death of 45 archers
