Yodapwnsasmurf
I'm starting this thread in the hybrid section, partly because I mostly keep hybrids at the moment and partly because I think people who keep hybrids (And exotics) are the most interesting Just wanting to know of some interesting things you feed/have fed your fish. I'll start, this is a list of not-so-common fish food. Fresh Salmon - Some of the larger cichlids go nuts for the stuff, and I'm sure it's beneficial to their colour. Beach Worms - Whenever I have some spare livies after fishing, the horde gets a few. Sand Yabbies - Same as with the Beach Worms. Dry Dog/Cat food - Not too much, as it's high in protein, but the Oscar and large Flowerhorns love the stuff. Each Other - We all lose fish, and sometimes (When I can be bothered) I'll cut the dead fish up and feed it to the rest, is that weird? Blue Eyes and White Clouds - Yep, everybody's favourite, Blue Eyes and White Clouds, they are so pretty yet so tasty! Rabbit pellets - I just have a bag left over from when I had a rabbit, a bit of fibre I say! Various other things that I'm sure I'll think of later. Thanks, Finn

Yodapwnsasmurf
What poison? Cockroach baits, sometimes they stay alive for a while after, and we have baits all over the house so their is always a chance they are contaminated.
Keith B
Cooked peas for the parrots. Sliced frozen green prawns to all of the less messy eaters. Flame tail gudgeon to the texas boys and girls.
bidkev
You're right about the cockies...................I've seen 'em take 24 hrs to cark it once they'd hit the contact spray..................lying on their backs kicking...............If you find one, think about how it came to die before you feed it to the fish. Also, turn your air pumps off if you're spraying contact spray until the smell is gone (open windows).............that stuff is lethal to fish. grubby
breed my own maggots..............all (largish) species go mad for 'em. A mate of mine in the UK used to live next to an Angling shop that used to breed their own Maggots to sell as bait, the smell in summer was something else. That's due to the meat or fish rotting...................once it's "blown" by flies and the maggots hatch, the smell should disappear if you've set it up right.................cover the rotting meat with bran or sawdust and ir "buries" the smell.
