lloydashton
So my frontosa kalumba finally held to 10 days. Got my first 23 wrigglers. very stoked with the number as she is small. I have been having trouble with loosing wrigglers in tumblers, i have tried a few different versions but still loosing about 50% of my frontosa eggs in them. So this time i decided to try the strainer method and so far it is much easier and all wrigglers are still healthy. Pics are only with phone camera. I used an empty 2.27kg NLS container to hold the strainer as its a perfect fit. The container sits in the kalumba tank on the front panel, a middle brace and the back glass lid. And a quick pic of the Alpha Male.
shon982
Agreed, strainer method is what I use for my fish, way easier and can house a lot of eggs successfully

Rastinger62
SO happy for you Lloyd. There looking good. I use the strainers myself but looks a bit different to the way have set up. I have a tank for all my strainers and cut styro out to fit around the strainer and let them free float.
timothy2
awesome loyd. I started doing exactly the same thing a couple months ago with the strainers and old nls buckets. only a couple months now until I get my licence so hopefully you'll have a bunch of fry to show then. Donny@ageofaquariums
And that kids, is how its done! good build and stunning fish!!! I was using the Mick method, basicly strips of plastic going over tank, with round holes in them that the strainer sat in. Then the fry batches just started getting too big and I had to start using 6x2x2 or IBC with LOTS of airstones.

That many fry hey? that would be nice with my fronts but i cant see it happening. haha. I like the idea of the plastic strips over the tank and was thinking about something similar also. But yea the strips of plastic with holes cut in them work excellent sorta like acrylic filter sock holders.......... only designed for a dozen strainers at a time. lloydashton
So i have used the strainer method twice now and had great survival rates. And the strained for me is so much easier than the tumblers for frontosa eggs. I still use the tumblers for Tropheus and Electric yellows.
