HannibalsMum
i have a long fin who is getting tempremtal towards my young honey an neon gouramis. i have a ceramic half log thing that its decided that its it home... an it will chase antthing that goes inside..it hasnt got large bristles as of yet, only a few smallr ones round the lip. i have another longfin that is slightly larger it had no bristles at all that i can see, should i put them together an see what happends? is there another way to know what is what? i would love to get these guys to breed... (the largest i've had since march, the next bout a month later from a diff suplyer an the last albino is the youngst that i've had since mayish, diff fish place again). i think they are the most pritiest fish to watch swimming around. (would love a pepperment longfin...) Edited July 7, 2013 by HannibalsMum
kitmini
Hi hannahibahs mum. Some BN females will have short bristles around their lips .. Or it could be a young male. They are not overly aggressive and as long as you have some good hides will be fine together. Long fins are pretty and I like the fish as they make you sit and time out to watch them come out. There is lots of talk of long fin peps and the topics surfaces here about every 6months or so but other than a rather odd photo banging around the net there is not any recorded breeding of the yet. HannibalsMum
yea ty, i've been told that fem's have short bristles an the boys get "mowhawks" and have barbs somewere on their bodies. my sister in nz breeds standed bristle noses, i wasnt sure if longfins were differnt. at the mo the one in the pic is by its own, the other two are in my big tank togeter, i dont want them to breed in there due to the yoyo loaches. now those are babies i dont want to lose. my guys in the big tank will come out almost anytime, however they have cotton on to th old "pull the log up with fish net under to catch them" trick... lol i'm not sure how old or what size they should be for breeding age to... if that make a diffrence.
