gotzy
Hey guys went home for lunch and had a look at the fish like i do and notices heaps eggs all over the glass in one tank and a fat little cory laying eggs, is there anything i need to do? i cant get the egg off to put in a tumbler without busting them. so was thinking of taking all other fish out. Im abit surprised they bred because i only bought them a week ago and filled the tank with play sand which bumped up the ph to 8 and started knocking of orange spot bn, so quess they like a higher ph i wont be changing the sand back on the weekend now
luckyfish
Hey mate, how many fish do you have in the tank atm? if its only a few then yeah take them out and leave the eggs in there. Otherwise you can get an icecream container and fill it half way with water from the parent tank and put a couple of drops of methyl blue in it and add an air stone, scrape the eggs off the side of the tank with a razor blade that you can purchase a pack of 5 for $2 from the chemist. Every day just take out a cup of their water and add new water from the parent tank back into the ice cream container, no need to add anymore methyl blue after the first day (this by the way helps to keep them from gaining fungus)....once they hatch they will live happily off their yolk sac for the first week, then you will want to feed them daily with a fry food, I just pop spectrum pellets in a magic bullet till it turns to dust and sprinkle the lightest amount in for them. Remember daily water changes, yo ucan even throw in a shrimp or two to help with cleaning up any excess food. I have raised hundred and hundreds of cory fry this way

luckyfish
yes its a lot of fish to try remove from the tank and re-home in other tanks, its always fun trying new ways of raising fry, give it ago and see what happens, you learn more from trial and error get the eggs out as soon as you can as guppies, barbs and widows will spot the eggs and gobble them up, sometimes even plecs and bn's will munch them if they happen to be in the way when eating algae off the glass
