frankthedolphintrainer 35 Report post Posted July 17, 2013 Hey everyone, im looking at getting a 6 x 2.5 x 2.5 with 12mm glass plus the cabinet. Whats the best way to move something so heavy without damaging it. It need to travel from Deception Bay to Wakerley (about 40km). Is a trailer safe enough or would it need to go in a van. Im also guessing that 2 people would not be enough to lift such a tank. Is there a cheap removalist option for tanks? if that exists Cheers
Chris Tschumy 15 Report post Posted July 17, 2013 I would recommend 3 people at least. Tank that size will be over 100kg easy
matt_a 19 Report post Posted July 17, 2013 There's no such thing as a cheap tank removalist. 2 big blokes could probably move that tank by themselves, but I'd sooner have a little extra help on hand. On the back of a ute would be my preference, but I have seen people move tanks on trailers many times without issue.
Darby 0 Report post Posted July 17, 2013 Ute is easiest, make sure its well padded and supported
ctn13 0 Report post Posted July 18, 2013 my advise to you is try to hire/buy some glass movers -the big suction cup things, a mate borrowed some from windscreens Obrien for a carton, to move our 8x2x2 and I WILL NOT be moving it again without them, it makes life, lifting and moving SO MUCH easier.... and safer. Donny@ageofaquariums 853 Report post Posted July 18, 2013 The more people the better. If you are also moving house, I'd consider hiring an abel truck....... that way you can take tank, stand and a load of stuff at the same time.
