Fronts and malawi cichlids (are they ok together)

Recommended Posts

Hi John,

I have an adult breeding colony of Copadichromis borleyi (common name = Red Fin Kadango) in with my frontosa breeders with no problems, they both breed regularly. I also grow out my frontosa fry with malawi fry, making them compete for food. That way I find I don't end up with fussy spoilt frontosa.

Cheers, Doug

In that size tank your going to have problems with trying to breed Fronts

Also thats a few fish in that tank to try and breed much

I would be getting a bigger tank to breed Fronts

Pref a 6x2x2 would do the job alot better

Darren (Sealord) would be the best to talk to about breeding Fronts

Sorry, I didn't mention my frontosa and the borleyi are in an 8 x 2 x2 :)

You would have a much better chance odf breeding frontosa in a larger tank as the other guys have suggested.

Cheers, Doug

and not to mention most of there tank mates are fin nippers and to be honest a frontosa looks best with long flowing fins

200L tank will not work for fronts sorry and a pair does not work 99% of the time the female will die or she will jump from being beat up because the male will want to spawn all the time and she wont be ready
