grubby
and say's I'll take a pair of Wimple Piranhas, an 1/8 of an ounce of your finest Skunk please and what time is the next live show? Oops sorry getting confused, that's too many stag trips to Amsterdam when I lived in the UK. And I never got to check out a single aquarium. ageofaquariums
I have been to several Aquarium stores in Germany and they are much the same. Lots of stock but spread out all over the place.

The Tech Den
holy shiz, that store is huge. couldn't even imagine a lfs near that size in brisbane. Big and when you look at the front counter there is almost 70 X 1.4kg buckets of Viformo which would be a pretty penny to do here. I do not want to start any arguments or digress the thread but when you look at this it does sort of make you think about the pricing - I doubt if anyone would go to the supplier and ask for 70 buckets in Australia - no wonder some of this stuff is cheaper overseas with the sheer quantity they must purchase - Donnyageofaquariums I am sure Donny has a graph o pic chart...lol I like the 3D backgrounds on the plumbing. Use what you have I suppose. Edited July 23, 2013 by The Tech Den

Fish food in general is 50 up to 75% cheaper in Europe then Australia. - Comes down to freight , duty , GST and mainly long expensive permits to bring it into Australia + the fact retailers buy from the Australian Distributor and not directly from the manufacture. kasman
Thats a good looking store, but likewise I think we have it pretty good here in Bris. Some great online retailers like AOA and techden, never been to AOA on base but im sure Id enjoy myself having a browse for a good few hours! And when it comes to fish well we are pretty lucky to have an aquarium like Smiths in the area (hope I can say that), its 2nd to none when it comes to livestock. DFishkeeper
My wife's family is Dutch and they tell me the fishkeeping hobby is huge in the Netherlands due to the terrible weather. They need to spend most of their time indoors and are keen on any hobbies they can do indoors. Cheers, Doug

Being of German descent myself I am know I am not the first person in my family to be a fish nut, especially my family in Brazil, could you imagine fish keeping in Brazil?? My grandfather used to have a friend back in New York who he knew in Germany, who used to have a sea plane and he would fly down to Latin America and bring back fish for the Aquarium trade in the 1930's and 40's. Dad had a flight in the plane around New York as a small child. I think Brisbane Aquariums are ok, but take a trip to Sydney or Melbourne if you want to see how it is done, we could be a lot better.
