FISHY ONE
i have been talking with a guy in the US and a clown or a pair of colwns is ok, but he says that if you were to put 10 or more in a tank then the would be ok and not probs, but anything under that you will have dramas, any one have any thoughts on this? thanks
rex82
From young yes they will become a harem. The biggest most dominant will become female and the next in line will become male and the rest stay indifferent. With a big enough group the aggression is spread over a larger group so no single fish gets the hiding. If you tried it with larger fish it will not work. FISHY ONE
with one breed ok, but how would i go if i applied the same idea to about 3 different breeds? eg start then all in the same tank from small baby fry so to speak, would that work??? or would it be more like 3 gangs of fish having a gang war against each breed?? rex82
Given that occys and Percs will interbreed I would say it would work for them. Maroons etc I can't see it working lol
PeterJ
As clownfish are protandrous hermaphrodites the largest/most dominant will become the female, the next largest will become male and all the others remain immature until there's a spot they can fill. I'd imagine you could cause problems if you didn't start with small enough fish. Edit: d'oh didn't read the post from rex82 properly - sorry to repeat Edited July 30, 2013 by PeterJ
