bundyfish
Ok so getting a 6x 2x2 and want to stock it with Americans. Hoping to put in it 2 x oscars which I already have 4 cm Then was thinking off putting in.... 2 x gold shaum/rivutalus 2 x firemouths Will these fish coexist happily in a tank that big? What else could I stock it with? Suggestions please.
goneself
Yep, nice start. I'd be adding a few dithers- some blue eye cichlids or convicts, maybe some silver dollars or tinfoil barbs. I always like having a jack dempsey in with oscars and saums, they seem to work really well.
ronny
Ide skip to firemouths to be honest, I've never found them compatible with Oscar's. Jack dempseys are a great option as with brasiliensis, fenestratus or other vieja. As for dithers I think some nice silver sharks are the way to go. Me I would go one Oscar, one fene, one brasilie, one JD, 2-4 sharks and one pleco.
bundyfish
Thanks for suggestions wasn't sure how a jack Dempsey would go with the oscars. might scrap the firemouths

bundyfish
Couldn't help myself and got 2 firemouths but I have a back up tank if things start going pair shape current stock in the tank (6x2x2)are: 2 firemouths 1 tiger oscar 2 white rivilatus 1 bristlenose They are all small at the moment seems like they have an ocean to swim in. They have been togeather for nearly 2 months and all seem to be getting along fine, I'll try put some pics up sometime. Next question I have been considering getting a black ghost knife fish ? Just thought I would get everyone's opinions on how compatible it would be with these guys? Not something I will try if it's is clearly not a good idea unlike the firemouths lol I have no more tanks if it goes bust.
Chrisfits
Get yourself a pleco or syno for cleanup, 1 BN in a 6x2 will never be seen or dent any algae growth, got a breeding trio in my 6x2.5, I see babies in the sump more often than adults in the tank, Eventually syno & plec will stop doing cleanup & just make more mess
bundyfish
Yeah I am planing on also adding a female bristlenose sometime soon. The tank has soft lighting so the BN is out all the time even chases the Americans around. Edited October 9, 2013 by bundyfish
bundyfish
Is there anyone who has experience with black ghost knife fish? Or can see any problems with putting one in this tank?the LFS has one around 20 cm in an American display and Internet search has mixed results.
