Can females be aggressive???

Recommended Posts

Hey guys I just bought a new fish which I'm 80% sure she a female saulosi however now I'm thinking she's something completely different because she is chasing the other fish around. So can females be aggressive???

And also I think she might be holding but she may not be because sometimes her mouth looks like she is but then sometime it doesn't.

And do female cichlids that are holding chase others?

The female always devours the male, literally and metaphorically. I cannot believe you had to as that ?Your clearly not married.

Just like Donny , I also live with 2 females wife and 4 year old daughter. It can be brutal, mind you Donny and I also have to deal with the fact the other halves are Kiwi and Nurses.:frusty:

Oh and yes my female cichlids also hold court.

You kids never cease to shock me!

Back to the cichlids, holding females will often take on the territorial colours of a male while holding.

This is a warning to other fish not to mess with her!

Really good breeder girls in species where the females are yellow......... eg auratus or interruptus...... anyway the best breeder girls will almost always turn a dirty yellow.

And once the colour change happens, they turn mental.

they turn mental.

I'm yet to find a woman who isn't mental.

On fish, when I had the breeding angels it was the girl who was most agressive. The male just kind of hung around her until feeding time when he went ape. Over the food.

He was such a bro

So that's what happened to my female Chipokae that was holding.

She looked like a male & was crazy aggressive to anything in her space.

Guess I didn't know everything after all. Just don't tell the wife I said that!
