possum_chop
Just wondering if there is any type of smaller sized schooling fish that would go with Malawi cichlids? I don't recall seeing any so far in other tanks, so I thought it wouldn't hurt to ask? Cheers
Chris Tschumy
Might be worth researching on google to see what else lives in the lake that suits your needs, then see if it's available here.

Shanoz
Rhadinocentrus Ornatus Rainbows are great to add as a schooling fish to an African tank. They love the higher pH levels and look awesome, I loved having them as I had around 6 with my Africans. Just make sure they are large enough not to get eaten. Daydream
Would suggest some of the barbs Tbarb tiger or odassa but make shaw you go 10 or so and get them with some size on them.
Donny@ageofaquariums
Its going to depend a lot on what species of cichlid you have. Some are just jerks and will kill other fish. Others will eat what fits in their mouth. Electric Blues, Venustus and Nimbochromis all have good sized mouths. Diamond shaped fish like Buenos Aires Tetras work so well due to their shape making them hard to swallow. They are also scrappy little fellas that are used to swimming with bigger nasty fish. I like monos and scats. Using the rift lake salts they tend to do really well.

Donny@ageofaquariums
Congo tetras may be ok, have seen them in with some Tangs as well as emperor tetras lol when I first started with africans pet shops openly sold congos to go with any africans as a "biotype" suggestion. Then again there was also a betta in nearly every tank and if you bought 10 guppy they usually gave you 11 as a part of "livebearer insurance". I miss the old days sometimes but dam we were n00bs
