mike_vr90
Just wondering what everyone recommends to use when moving house, I've got a few tanks to shuffle over to the new place, I've got some seachem stability, and stress guard but just wondering if I can't take as much water as I'd like to what would be the best stuff to add to the water, eg, quick start by Api? Or what do you use? Ill be keeping all my media wet for the move so its seeded and ready to go, But say I can only take 120L with me from a 5x2x2 what's my best option to allow instant refill, I'm looking into getting more tubs for water transport but just wanted to see what's going to better value for money, buying chemicals to help or buying a heap of those plastic containers to put the water in, I'd get an IBC but don't want to mix all my waters together as there's different stock in each tank. Thanks for any input! Cheers mike

The Tech Den
When I went to the Auction last I picked up a few things and when I got home grabbed a brand new tank and brand new media and brand new pump added half water from my tank and aged water and added Aquasonics Bio Culture and worked a treat. The shrimp loved it and worked really well. Didn't have to do it that way but thought nup want to give it a go and use and try it for myself to see what it is like and if I was going to start up any more new tanks I would have no worries and do it again for a nice good clean start up - well that was till I got a couple of plants - frigin snails...lol Bio Culture is refrigerated and has true live nitrifying bacteria which goes to work straight away rather than the ones the simulate and promote nitrifying bacteria colonies. mike_vr90
The Tech Den do you have any bigger bottles than that? As I have over 2500litres to treat if I setup everything but am trying to condense it down by keeping some stock in with each other. Thanks mike
The Tech Den
There is not a bigger bottle but there is a concentrate version as well. Initial dose + maintenance dose: Add 20ml of Bio-Culture per 1000L of water + 10ml per week per 1000L. 100mls per 300m2 of biological media surface area. (Concentrate). It will be about $45 and will need to do an order on Monday with them so can order it in for you?
ronny
In my opinion you are just doing a massive waterchange. Keep media airated with a battery op air pump for the trip and you should be apples. Additives will give you peace of mind and my personal favourite is stress zyme by API mainly cos it's soooo bloody cheap at RPC and works. Oh and that bio culture is the ducks nuts for setting up a new tank, but I don't believe that is truly what u need. Donny@ageofaquariums
I use a battery powered air pump, on a bucket containing my filter media. That way you keep as many microbes alive as possible. I dont feed the day before I move, or the day that I move them. API quickstart gets my vote for best bacteria booster...... if you need it. But best to keep your existing microbes alive in oxygenated water.

The Tech Den
No worries, your welcome. Its always a pain having to move and if you give yourself more time and have a week or two to overlap it costs a fair few bucks. Good luck with the move and anything I can do you know how to contact me.
mike_vr90
I should I add its tank water ill be using out there too so that should be a lot better than straight from the tap
The Tech Den
That is for sure - you just need to work out how to take advantage of it. I found adding a little town water helped stabilise it better. I found when I used tank water by itself I needed to add Kh Generator as the Ph would just crash. There is a happy medium - you just have to play with it and test a bit till you get it all down pat and you will in no time.

mike_vr90
mq_camo here mate Keeping:- Item requires refrigeration. The item is stored in refrigeration prior to posting and due to no refrigeration during post the bacteria will come alive from its dormant state which will be ready to use when received and it has been confirmed by manufacturer to be still good for two weeks later which should be the final dosing stages. The Tech Den
Pro bio Plus, Bio Aid and Bio Culture all go out with cold packs with them - if you order on a Thursday arv or Friday they do not get sent out till Monday so they do not sit in a dock for a couple of days but using the cold packs keeps them good during transit. Will have to update that info...to on the site. Edited August 24, 2013 by The Tech Den
mq_camo
If I was to order tonight and paid for express post when do you reckon it'd reach me on the sunny coast.
The Tech Den
Most people get their order on the following day on the coast when it is sent normally but can send it express post if you wish and would not charge you extra for it either. mike_vr90
Donny@ageofaquariums can you use QuickStart and and stress Zyme at the same time, I scored some bottles today, so now I have a 473ml bottle of quick start, a 473ml bottle of stress Zyme, a 500ml bottle of seachem stress guard and a 250ml bottle of stability, Just wondering if I use all of this stuff in the recommended doses can I over dose or will it be safe to use the lot?
