C'mon what did you guys get....

Recommended Posts

It was pretty good. A good mix of stuff showed up, more discus and Ls than usual which was good to see (very cheap too). Not much in the way of rare stuff, but there was a few Freddie's and albino san merah discus (very nice). Finished at about 11:30. I just got some plants and a nice L10A female (thanks tutters187 ).

Steve beat me to it but yup I took a few things home as well, it was a buyers night for most things.

BARGAIN of the night a Mature Betta Macrostoma female from Imported Hermanus lines for $20.

Couldn't believe that such a rare beautiful fish was even offered at an auction let a lone for $20 and bonus that it was an imported line as well ....

BUY OF THE NIGHT in our eyes ......

Heaps of Cichids, Bristlenose, Plants and Driftwood .... Was a buyers action

Crowd was down in numbers probably due to River fire, AFL grand Final and Victoria Betta IBC Show.

Auctioneers did a great job as always and finished up about 11,30pm.

Yup I agree buy of the night goes to Saffa very nice fish, even stressed in the bag. I didn't realise the macs could get that big lol :first::first::eyebrows:

YEah buddy she is truely big and beautiful ..... not quiet as big as the dominate female we purchased off goldswimmers recently.

The male macrostomas where ****ting themselves but nothing like a dominate female I say ...... LOL

gold firecracker is a common name, not a species locality.

lake%20tanganyika%20north.JPG

Compare them to ones caught at Cape Caramba.

I dont really care that much to chase up a rumour I heard while still in the trade.

Nor do I expect anyone to take it as gospel.

I only replied as I heard these were exported first from an Africa based exporter.

A tangerine mutation is no different to an albino mutation.

It aint by definition cross bred.

There are definitely hybrid tropheus out there in large numbers now though.

Those firefoxes for example turned out to not quite be as sterile as rumoured

Tropheus are much more your speciality than mine though.

So happy to be corrected on this.

We are the new parents of the Albino San Merah Discus. Certainly a little beauty. Settling in well with our others. We planned on going to have a look and perhaps get some wood. Bought a stunning piece of wood with some plants, golden rams, 2 x juvi plecos and red cherry shrimp. Was a damn late night by the time we got home and settled everyone into their new home. Had we have known there was going to be so many, we would have changed our plans and bought some more.

We will be saving for November's Auction.

Cheers

I have seen to come across fire cracks/ fire fox / red Phoenix tropheus a lot and I have 15 myself when I first got them the had strong colour but no they are quite large they have a whitish look to them but a great active fish perfect for display tanks! Not as aggressive either compared to other tropheus varieties

Not yet. We have not put it in the tank yet. We are heading o/s next week so chose to wait until we got back in case something went wrong. Not had time to check to make sure the log is all good to go in etc.

Once it is in I will post a pic, or ten.

Question though .. if this wood for some reason came from salt water, would it do any damage in a 550L 6 footer tank of freshwater? I am cleaning tonite and thought WOW maybe I can put it in now.

Cheers
