When should I take my heater out?

Recommended Posts

Bully is spot on, just unplug it and leave it in there otherwise it won't ever work properly again! Also like the others said, it has a thermostat, so once it reaches its desired temp it should switch itself off unless your heater is stuffed! ;)

Agreed with all of the above, just leave it in there.

I'd leave it on just in case there is a cold snap.

$18 will get you a temperature controller (ebay from Hong Kong) that will work as a second thermostat if you're worried about it failing and cooking your fish.

Mines in my sump and already un plugged a thermometer will give a better reading than any heater and I have seen them turn on for no reason I would rather not waste power @ 300w and my temp hasn’t dropt below 26% the last 3 weeks, I have on the other hand almost needed to place some ice in the tank as the garage gets hot.
