Enthusiast
so I am just finishing setting up my 8x3x2 and I currently do not have any fish i really want to put in it to breed. I do have what I hope is a pair of red bay snooks but I think it to big for two of them. Does anyone have any suggestions as to what to put in there keeping in mind I want something to breed and sell. thanks
goldenswimmers
Champsochromis Caeruleus mate....Id go a nice big boy and 4 or 5 little lady friends...then add some guys who can hold their own in that environment...they move fast..hit food at the surface hard and enjoy a good swim area(being pursuit predators)....reckon a pr of Umbee would do nice in there hmmm.......big fish big tank...big fun.....guppies??? and observe whilst enjoying magic mushrooms??!?!..ha ha nice tank mate...id go a nice big natural aquascape and less but bigger fish...let them enjoy it..I reckon you'll be rewarded when your watching them

Enthusiast
I'm torn between having it as a nice tank to trip ball's at or for breeding golden swimmers, I already have over 48 ft dedicated to guppys lol. I was thinking about the fronties but wasn't sure what ones to look for as there are so many varieties. I'm going to look the Champsochromis Caeruleu up as I'm not familiar with them. As for sharks that would be one big as chiller you would need. Thanks for the suggestions guys.
michaelandbrittany
A big breeding colony of frontosa would look awesome in there.
the German
Maybe breed something you are intrested in ? No mater what size tank 2ft - 30ft if you breed something you like then it's rewarding and not something someone else whant you to breed ...... Enthusiast
to be honest I love all types and have enough free tank space to start looking at new exciting things I have not seen or had before but had never had a breeding tank that big so was looking at suggestions. which has been great and I think I'll go the way of the fronties and maybe look at the calvus and shell dwellers as they have always had my interest thanks again

goldenswimmers
Im feeling the tang set up ..in a big tank with a very interesting community... some nice fronnies(kitumbas!!) Id also look at a happy(possible?) pr of L.Nkambae(nice bigger tang predator) or have a cool shell environment(Sumbu maybe so you can get that Alto. hit..I fully understand! ) could be very interesting mate and tonnes of options with a big tank....cant lie mate the 3' wide would have been a great footprint size but hey the extra depth would show off some nice frontosa very well Edited October 6, 2013 by goldenswimmers
