yellows
Just wondering what peoples opinions are on stripping 1st time female cichlids as I have been reading lately and a lot of the articles say to let first time female cichlids spit there first lot of fry naturally before you start to strip them
Eh man
I would leave the first batch until nearly full term then strip her, just so can learn how to carry the eggs and fry wriggling around in her mouth.i find sometimes first time females eat there eggs after a few days anyway. DFishkeeper
Hi Mick, I always strip my females, to be honest I believe you have more trouble trying to assimilate a female back into the colony if you remove her for a while to let her release naturally. Plus by stripping she doesn't lose as much condition and is ready to breed again much sooner, which is good for you and her, because the male won't harass her as much.
