Yodapwnsasmurf
I think it's some type of Sword? Broad Leaf Sword?
bluebelle
Echinodorus amazonicus, also known as amazon sword plant. Comes in various leaf shapes, also changes shape in different environments.
mthom211
It doesn't look like E. amazonicus to me, but definetly an Echinodorus species or hybrid. Their care is essentially the same across the genus.
De_fishie
Oh thank you. I thought it looked like a sword but the guy I got it from said it wasn't, but he didn't know what it was. He mentioned that he had it in high light and that was why it grew shorter and that in low light it would grow taller. Does that sound right? It has a rhizome, do I plant the roots but leave that out?
mthom211
That sounds about right. You can plant the roots and the rhizome, the white bit at the bottom of the leaves would be where the substrate used to be.
