billfish Posted November 10, 2013 Report Share Posted November 10, 2013 I have got my hands on some acrylic in sizes up to 600x400 up to 10 mm thick most are 4 mm and 300x 200 and am thinking of fighter tanks but don't know if I can use silicone or a purpose made glue . pony-tail Posted November 10, 2013 Report Share Posted November 10, 2013 There is also a solvent glue they use for making shop fittings from acrylic sheet . (a) I am not sure it is aquarium safe. ( I have only seen it in contractor type quantities © I cant remember the name . a bit of searching would find it but see if you can get the Aquasonic one - unless you plan to do quite a lot . I tried building Acrilic tanks quite a few years ago - easy to get a tank up and assembled but I was plagued with seam leaks . Your saw cuts have to be almost perfect as there is no filler in the solvent to seal the gaps . Give it a go - it's fun . -- I did and actually got a few to seal and work just as planned.
