crusty76
Yes you are.... I wouldn't do it many things can go wrong wth a tank of that size, ask around the local tank builders might cost ya $100-$200? get them to come and build it and watch very carefully and ask lots of questions
Rastinger62
totally agree ^^^^. I made my 8x2x2's but it's taken 4 of them before look any good or sound I say more prefect like a constant tank builder. I got help with my first one. aquaholic99
Make sure you clean the glass super clean before gluing so you get a good bond as it is quite a lot of work having to cut the tank apart and re-do.
Outlaw
Being up Townsville there is not many/none tank builders. I've built a sump from scratch and resealed a few 6x2. The flat pack come up for a fair price, so why not? My 6x2 is over flowing with fronnies so it's ever get a bigger tank or move a few fish. thatsright99
It's easier with 2 people. What sort of silicone do you have with it, how many tubes do you have? You need a thick piece of foam -10-12mm, and a FLAT area to build on, corner clamps, normal clamps, maybe f-clamps if ground is not level or glass is cut differently and you get bubbles comeing up the silicone ect, new razor blades, metho, clean rags, 8 lengths of wood cut to correct length to support braces, something you can cut to pop under the wood to make up any differences in wood- depends on who/where cuts it. If you get the wood cut at bunnings, for example measure each piece as some of the cuts can be shoddy. have fun Edited November 20, 2013 by thatsright99
cichlidwife
acetone is best for cleaning glass as it not leave oily residue and evaporates instantly, a good flat surface and good confidence in knowing what you are doing.. also silicone where its meant to be and not smeared halfway up the tank.... mike
