Donny@ageofaquariums
Looks a bit Amphilophus doesnt it? Can they cross with Tilapia mariae?
Sclero p
Forest Lake not caught by me, Guy assumed it was P. synspilus but does not look right to me.
ronny
prior to knowing location i did see paratheraps traits with others. P. species but should have far more distinct colour and patterns at that size if pure. (although aquarium bred pur is hard to find). mariae x P. does look like a viable option just as much as an amphilopus x paratheraps does. I pressume said fish was culled on site? Sclero p
Yes culled on site. Got 2 large boys a while ago in there some sort of Paraneetroplus (valid name evidently) consensus at the time was that they were hybrids. Would think it highly unlikely that T. mariae would hybridise with Americans.

Yodapwnsasmurf
I'd say it's a Vieja hybrid of some sort. And I agree that I would find it extremely surprising if Tilapia could hybridise with Americans.
Donny@ageofaquariums
It does look very much like a vieja hybrid........ I am just used to seeing some red in the belly, espec in ones getting live food.

Supercobwe
Would there a chance Convict cross with some American cichlids? I know convict doesn't get that big but once it hybrid then it would have a chance out grow pure convict.

Donny@ageofaquariums
I agree that it looks like it has at least a bit of Amphilophus in it.

Lictoga
sure it dose. because of them we are so restricted with what we can now inport and keep. so why not let people know where and whats out ther so some of us can go kill some of he *******s. i know eradication is not likely possible but at least give natives a chance.
