JD's both female??

17 posts in this topic

Hey.. just looking for a little help.

I was pretty sure I had a pair of JD, but today it was suggested I actually have 2 females.

Could anyone sex them from the pics?

Thanks in advance!

2 girls would kinda ruin my breeding plans :(

Can I ask you both why you want to breed JD. The fry are not worth anything and it costs money to raise them.

some of us do it for fun... believe it or not. Its called "a hobby".

he might have some pbass ;)

I have a pair of JDs and I agree the 2nd is definetly a female and the first is hard to tell. I would guess its a sub male. I usually go off the shape of their heads normally the head shape is completely different. They're hard to breed if the male doesn't feel like he is the king of the tank.

That first one could also be the sub female with its washed out colours. If you get a definite male and put in the tank you will know. The males will fight or if its female they will fight for the male

Mine are both females. I separated them and they've coloured up identically, but I'm happy :)

Yep, definitely looking to breed for fun. Not about making money for me.
