help with picking cichilds

6 posts in this topic

I have no doubt you will get many answers on this Jktrain, but too help keep them relevant, what size is your tank and can you give a hint as to what way you are thinking. What fish have you seen you love. Name one fish and a great set of ideas can be given around the one fish.

Steve

A 4x15 or a 4x2foot? A big difference...a lot of fish, or lightly stocked, what size of fish at adult size?? And then filtration.. if you get fish in the zebra family they like to be packed in more so you need better filtration, maybe up to 10x's/hr turnover. Here's a little sampler.. electric yellows, cobolt blue zebs, and syn. Multipuntatus catfish as a contrast. You could ad electric blue males or marble p.coks or ?????? Depends on what colours you like

Maybe try some Kribensis and Rams. Some smaller geophagus species also. You don't really want fish that are quarrelsome, especially in a 4 ft tank. Some people will argue with that of course.Don't overstock with the same species either as they will probably fight a lot amongst themselves.Maybe you need harmonious first tank until you get the gist of things otherwise you might go through a few fish.Good luck with your fish hunting.
