hey guys ive recently been doing some trading here and there and decided that im not going marine just yet Click here to enlarge

the room i have gets really hot and i dont want to fork out lots for a chiller,skimmer and leds ect.. its just not the right time financially.

so what i do have is just about every thing to start up an african tank Click here to enlarge that way its not going to bust the bank to much and they can handle a bit of heat during this summer. so heres a breakdown on what equipment this setup is containing

TANK - aquaone aquagrande 120, 4ft 70 gallon curved glass corners

CABINET - Custom made by myself

FILTRATION - hagen Fluval fx 5

LIGHTING - hagen glo twin t5 reflective unit, 54w powerglo 18,000 k

SUBSTRATE - 60kgs micro crushed coral sand + 20kgs seachem pearly shore's

HARDSCAPE - 110kgs A-grade Texas Holey Rock - life like Plastic plants

Still alot more work on the hardscape like adding a few smaller pieces of texas rock to fill it out and adding some life-like silk plants

getting the lids cut today and ordered a fluval surface skimmer too :-)

ohh yeah thats what im going to do once the filter gets cycled and lids are on,

heres some stocking pics of whats going in, there all peaceful and have mildly aggressive con-specific temperaments

Great looking tank and set up. Will look incredible once stocked. Can I ask what is the species name of photo 5 above? Great looking cichlid. Looks a little like a Protomelas of some variant?

Thanks Aussie. That site is my bible but I couldn't find that fish on there. Mind you I was reading it on my phone on the train home after work. Keep the photos rolling.

Does anyone here breed those fish? Would love a couple for my display tank.

tank didn't come with lids aussie ??

how does that fx5 go with surface agitation, i like your positioning seems to be working a treat, are you getting full surface turnover or about 3/4ths

no worries nick :-) some more pics to come of the tank with another 25kg's of rock and plants are in

@ forgotten the tank didnt come with lids just the wet/dry and lights that covered the tank. i took them off being that you coudnt feed your fish and was t8's,

the fx5 is doing a great job and the water is so clear that it looks like theres no water in the tank, new lids will be on this week and an update is on the way,

im really wanting tangs shon but have stocked it at the moment until i find the exact tangs im getting

does anyone know what africans these are? i presume malawi of some type

well the red empress are sold and out, 5 kigoma frontosa's are in with 13 leleupi and now the frontosa's just got sold and leaving tuesday. confusing hey?>

ok so now i have an actual stocking list planned and hope to get some input if this will work from all you tang experts :-)

5 leleupi

5 nigripinnis

5 leptosoma

2 sumbu comps

any room for some cukoo's ?

But I've got with maybe 4 leleupi or julidochromis

8 nigripnnis

10 leptosoma (minimum)

2 sumbu comps or 4 similis :esmile:

and then maybe 6 callochromis pleurospilus
