Sump + canister on a 4ft

Recommended Posts

Hi all

After a bit of advice on the filtration on my 4ft 270ishL tank. Currently have a 2200lph eBay canister running it which is doing a fine job but as I've recently restocked with African juvis (3-5cm) I'm considering putting extra filtration on the tank, Until I can upgrade tank size when we buy our own place down the track.

I'm considering putting a sump 70L

In series with my canister. Is this doable? Also need a pump size?

Any help is appreciated

Thanks Jacob

I've been having a think about it and realize that if a pump fails I'm going to have a problem.

My goal is to achieve more filtration without adding another set of pipes of internal, as it's a display viewable from 3 sides.

And the cabinet is to tight to house a big enough sump

Is there a way to achieve this?

Thanks Jacob

a good internal filter would be my answer but if you are chasing room i would put a 2213 or 2215 on as backup. i have a sump on my breeding rack and it really makes me appreciate how low maintenance my 6x2 tank is with the two big eheim cannisters. by the time you buy/build the sump and load it with media , it may be more cost effective to put another cannister on.
