Rastinger62
Thought I would share some pics I've taken lately of the Red Top Hongi Alpha Male I received once I brought most of Doug's colony and have added in more fry from Doug's biggest batch ready. I will continue line breeding these fish from Doug which he has done in the past. Still a work in progress getting all females to look similar to the male but when you have a male like this breeding with your females fry is gonna come out pretty sweet to say the least and fry will only get better. They breed like rabbits which is a bonus Wanna know more just pm me. Edited February 23, 2014 by Rastinger62

Cooder
Great fish, how are you supposed to get the females to look like the males if the species is sexually dimorphic. Wouldnt it screw with the whole, sexing thing lol?
Rastinger62
vent sexing all the way mate lol. When I brought the colony from Doug there was a female you would swear it was a male for sure. Pointed fins, a few eggs spots but you flip her over it was a female. DFishkeeper
That dominant male looks awesome in those pictures. Good to see you're going to continue with the linebreeding James, the more people trying to improve strains nowadays the better. Between us hopefully we can get hongis overall back to where they should be. Cheers, Doug

Mealsy19
They look awesome dude. I used to love hongi, still do. I had a bloke recommend them to me years ago cos he said they are easy to breed and get a **** load of good colour in them. Red top always had my interest the most though never got around to having them.
