I noticed this evening when I got home Yachiru my ranchu had a red spot on his back that is swollen and his scales are sticking up. He is eating fine and swimming about just fine but I'm concerned about this red spot. None of my other fish appear to have the same thing going on. I have done a 30%-40% water change and I put some melafix in the tank.

I would agree, looks to be either a mycobacteria infection or columnaris (saddle back disease) possibly.

I would separate the ranchu & treat with say a bacterial med like pimafix? If no response & the ranchu holds dear to you, I would visit your local vet & ask for 'Baytril antibiotic'

I have put Yachiru into my 2ft tank and I used melafix that I had laying around (it said it was antibacterial I hope it is ok?) the redness isn't as bad as it was last night. He seems more preoccupied with how his tank is now much smaller. But is still eating well and swimming like a champ :) thank you guys.
