Little mites

Recommended Posts

Have had these tiny little mites in my tank for ages. Just checking if anyone knows what they are. They mainly stay on the bits of wood sticking out above the water, and sometimes jump around on the water surface. They are really really small... probably a third or a half of a millimetre. To the naked eye, they just look like little orange dots. My macro gear can't magnify them enough to render fine detail.. would probably need a microscope.

From my google search, I think they may be springtails.. can anyone confirm or have other ideas? Just wondering whether I should try to get rid of them or just leave them be. Thanks.
