Bud_da_stud
I've recently purchased a bio pro canister filter. How would you all recommend I set up the filter media trays. Ther is 4 baskets it came with bio balls, ceramic noodle things, charcoal and 2 layers of black foam stuff. Should I use all this or any other ideas and what order should the layers go in
mq_camo
Personally I'd ditch the bio balls and the carbon and purchase matrix or some other for of high surface area media to utilise that space more effectively.
th3f0rg0t3n
fill the top tray with the sponges, the other trays should be filled with as advised above a decent quality media with massive surface area like matrix/marine-pure etc
gpodge
Sorry to hijack your thread.... he other trays should be filled with as advised above a decent quality media with massive surface area like matrix/marine-pure... is this ok to use in fresh water aquariums? How does it compare to EHEIM Substrat Pro?
rayray2281
Assuming your filter sucks from the bottom to top, mechanical filtration first, so sponges are at the bottom than bio media, Sponges at the top will only cause your media clog up and do nothing BIOpro 2200lph External Canister Filter + UV
th3f0rg0t3n
rayray is right, i was more so thinking fx5/fx6 canister's, with the other canisters with the motors on the top process would have your different layers of foam on the bottom tray.
