Isee Posted March 10, 2014 Report Share Posted March 10, 2014 Regardless of what names (including the usuals) you get, don't fall into a false sense of security of things turning out fine based on recommendations given or read here. Get every small detail confirmed in writing including agreed time frame for completion/delivery. It will save you a long delay, disappointment, headaches and money. rowley_89 Posted March 11, 2014 Report Share Posted March 11, 2014 I won't get anyone except Dennison to build my tanks...He built my 8x4....almost 10 years on now and still going strong...build quality is perfect and he will bend over backwards to help. Yea he can take longer than expected if he has a heap of work loaded up. But thats the risk you take getting a tank from a popular tank builder. Wasnt a deal breaker for me. My tank from him is 1200 litres. The thought of it letting go is not a pretty one. I asked around a lot of people before settling on Dennison. And only heard good things from the monster fish people. Top quality build was delivered on time with no hiccups at all. Put it on the stand and I was ready to rock. I think the words above would be the first bad ones I have ever heard about him. I have been thinking about this and can think of at least 30 people that I know with 8 foot AND BIGGER tanks that were all made by Dennison. Cannot think of anyone not stoked with their tank. I'm thinking theres at least HUNDREDS of people in the Brisbane area that he has helped move monster tanks. Which is a daunting thing to do srsly. Maybe it is a fan club, but only because he does good work. To put this in perspective....... I could have reccomended AOA to get a custom tank done. but as soon as I saw the tank size, I knew exactly who was perfect for the build. Now I cant comment on Micks work, but it also sounds top notch. Which is great, as the more talented tank builders we have in QLD the better. Props should also go to (G & J) Gary Maher! I have owned many of his tanks, and always loved them. Great cabinet work too. Have personally had nothing bigger than a 6x2x2, but I have no doubt he would be up to the task on a bigger size as well. But if you go to Maryannes FB page you can see just a small portion of the tanks he has made from big to small. I too have had quite a few tanks that were built by Gary Maher. They were bloody great who makes tanks 1 foot high out of 10mm glass ?? But who ever you get to build it in the long run I would go at least 4ft wide. Thanks again everyone I had a remeasure last night and I can go 1100 wide only a 100mm off 4 foot. Have had a couple of quotes and pretty happy with both.
