DeagonTheo
A lot of Aqua One Canisters are hard to get the lid off eg, Cf2200 Cf2400 etc, this might also apply to some other similar Canisters. I bought one the other day and spent two days pulling and tugging and pouring hot water on it, to no avail. All of a sudden I had an idea, pressure. I took the hoses off and stuck a garden hose in one of the holes and when it was full, blocked the other one with my thumb and off she came as simple as anything. Don't forget to undo the latches first, and don't do it in your lounge room, although it doesn't need much pressure. You can probably leave the hoses on as well if you can get the garden hose into them.
Donny@ageofaquariums
Careful using tapwater, as ya may kill off more of your filtration microbes than is safe. But yea the physics of the technique is clever and sound!
DeagonTheo
The pressure doesn't need to be that great, so if you have a rainwater tank that should do it as well. Before trying the pressure I was going to drop it off the roof. Another idea would be to fill it with water from the tank it came from, and just use the garden hose for a second or two.
