saundma
Hi there, I am in the process of setting up a new tank and have gone with two fx6's pretty much filled with marine pure. In the past I have waited for the nitrogen cycle to do its own thing but I'm considering trying "seeding" this time. This is the plan: I have well used canister that I haven't cleaned for a couple of months (on purpose) I was going to soak the new media in the dirty canister water for a day or two hoping to transfer the bacteria. My question is will this work or am I going to have to use some old media in the new filters for a few weeks? Thanks in advance for your help
Outlaw
id just wash the filter media in the new tank and let the new canisters suck it up,
michaelandbrittany
There has to be movement in the water or the good.bacteria will die.
M&J Fabulously Fish
Fill 1 fx6 up with all the old media/ sponge and have the other loaded with your new marine pure.
Donny@ageofaquariums
Easier just to move some media from the old canister into one of the internal media trays of the fx6. Then next time when you clean, pull it out and replace with marine pure. The above advice is all good too!
