KarenMick
So we have a fish room and breed Africans what I want to know is if I have a tank with calcium carb (cc) as substrate (approx 2-3cm layer) if I put big pieces of driftwood in there will the pH go down? The reason I ask is I am about to setup a 6ft for bristlenose to breed in but want to have cc as the substrate to match the rest of the room and don't want the ph too high. Thanks in advance Karen
michaelandbrittany
They would have to be large and lots of pieces to change the ph with cc in there. IMO

KarenMick
Yeah I got about 7-8 pieces about 15-20 cm in size plus heaps of other smaller ones do you think that would be enough? Or will they breed with a high pH it says they can go up to 7.
