Honestly i think all of us but one, have missed the point all together...

So truly, what is the most underrated american? not that is obviously an open ended question, and open to interpretation

understandably not everyone will have the same view on the topic so hear me out.

An american so humble, it will breed for you no matter what. They thrive in our tanks.

they may not be the most colourful of the american cichlid, but they sure make up for it in colourful attitude

Not huge, not small... just the right size.

an adult male with a large nuchal hump and flowing fins...

now that is a sight to behold.

burn me now, have your way.

Do you hear the people sing?

Singing a song of angry men?

It is the music of a people

Who will not be slaves again!

Can't believe no one has mentioned the ol' synspilum...definitely a species we take for granted, and there are some crackers out there.

Have to agree 100%. Totally underrated species.

I have just sold my trio of gorgeous Synspilum. I near shed a tear over it :( I'm just so happy they went to a good home and a great guy :)

Not only are the colors amazing but they have such awesome personalities...

for me it has to be the humble firemouth (thorichthys meeki)

Yep, me too. I got my first firemouth in 1969 and have been in love with them ever since. A truly stunning fish.

Hypsophrys Nicaraguensis

My second favourite Central American. Also a stunning fish.

Both of these species look great, they have very interesting characteristics making them very desirable to keep. Another bonus is that with their moderate size they only require a moderate sized tank.
